A spontaneous weekend surprise

Monday, I am not exactly happy to see you. We had an eventful weekend that definitely was not planned. We made a rash and spontaneous decision. But we don’t regret it one bit. It all started Saturday afternoon, when we decided to have In n out for dinner.

After indulging in burgers and fries, we decided to go down the street and walk around at the petsmart dog adoption fair. There was a live band playing and hundreds of barking dogs just waiting for somebody to take them home. We should have just stopped right there and drove straight home. But we didn’t. We stayed and walked around for hours looking at all the different dogs. And then, of course, as soon as we were making our way out, we saw the cutest dog and it was love. We knew right away we weren’t going home empty handed. Jordan and I are known for our rash and spontaneous pet purchases. But we knew she would be snatched up any minute if we didn’t take her home that night. Jordan and I had tossed around the idea of possibly get a furry friend for roxy in the future, but we definitely weren’t planning on it being this soon. We are so glad we did though.

Carson wasnt to sure about the whole new dog thing at first

Our new puppy is so sweet and has been getting along with roxy and carson perfectly. She is still pretty shy and not playing to much. But the poor thing has been handled by many different people and been tossed around from place to place. So we think she will start warming up soon and playing more once she feels  comfortable. She is really tiny and super snugly. Which we love. We love our roxy girl but she is to big to sit in our laps, so we are glad our new puppy is a lap dog.
We decided to name her Penny. I’m not really sure why but we just felt like the name fit her perfectly. Penny is 6 months old or so they think, unfortunately, there wasn’t a ton of information on her. But the shelter said she is a dachshund and chihuahua mix. So we imagine she will stay pretty small which we were happy to hear.

We are so excited to have her as part of the family. Sometimes I think we might just be a little crazy taking on 2 dogs, a baby, and a new house, but, we will make it work. It sounds sorta cheesy but it does feel good knowing we saved two lives, Penny’s, and the dog that will take her place (the shelter is limited to how many dogs they can take in).

I’m pretty sure our family thinks we are a little delusional (hi, mom) for adding another little furry friend to our new home, but, I know they will fall in love with her just like we have. Jordan and I love being spontaneous, I’m not sure if that’s really a good thing or bad thing. But either way, we think it’s fun and exciting mixing things up every now and then. I’m secretly hoping our next spontaneous idea will be moving to a farm with a bunch of land or a trip to Hawaii would be nice too.

Its so sad how many dogs were there at the petsmart charity event and even though a lot of dogs were adopted, I know there was still many that didn’t get their forever home. We are so happy to have Penny as part of the family and to have a new fur sister for Roxy.

Savana, oh my gosh your Penny is the cutest thing I’ve seen all day! She looks like she’s really gentle with your baby too which is nice. I’m so glad you went back and adopted her. I’m a proud mom of 3 rescues and they bring me happiness every day. Give her hugs from Tally, Jelly Bean and Filbie and me too, Coco
